I'm sure I must have made this observation before but is there actually any reason at all for the "ml" unit on digital scales to exist, other than to make you go through the same unit twice and to lie at you about anything that's not (the same density as) water?

So apparently if you have property stolen from you, you find it on eBay, the place that sold it on eBay confirms it's yours, but the property was sent to a different part of the UK and they don't have a suspect, that's the end of everything? They know where your property is, but nothing happens about it. This seems... dysfunctional and wrong.
