The best I can suggest/offer beyond that right now, is to turn on follow approvals in your profile. This is unfortunately limiting, because EVERYONE will have to request approval to follow you. Beyond that though, keep reporting and I’ll keep banning/searching for a better answer.

FYI for nutmeg.social users:

I’ve received a ton of reports on the follow spam from some random “GX” forum site (you probably all know the one at this point). While I generally DM the reporter once I’ve taken action, right now there are so many that I can’t keep up with the individual “hey, I took care of it” messages.

Please keep the reports coming, unfortunately at the moment it seems like a game of whack-a-mole but I’m doing my best to keep up with the bans.

nutmeg.social has outgrown its first/original server!

I am in the process of setting up a dedicated database server to improve performance on our instance – will set up as much of it as I can non-disruptively this morning, and plan a brief cutover once it's ready.

We should see faster page loads, quicker federation from other instances (e.g., posts from other servers show up sooner), and overall better performance once completed.

We had an unexpected outage earlier today that appears to be scale-related. Our Sidekiq queue (the magic behind Mastodon that handles federation between instances, receiving posts from others, etc) was overwhelmed by the sheer number of posts from other instances that we were trying to ingest.

I've increased the number of threads on Sidekiq for now and the queue calmed back down--though it may be time for nutmeg.social to scale! Will keep an eye on things and see how the instance is performing.

@catalyst hey things are going well! How are you doing with your instance?
@Gothilla I’m forced to list certain things when I post an opening like a list of every technology the person might use, or a specific number of years experience. The reality is I’ll take someone who can learn, or who has fewer years but is capable of getting the work done, but that’s not always easy to fit into the template HR wants to use

As a lifelong #LinkinPark fan, it was bittersweet to hear the “new” single Lost drop this morning. The song didn’t make the cut in their album, Meteora, 20 years ago—but now it’s one last opportunity to hear from Chester Bennington.

If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, you’re not alone.

HR says I’m no longer allowed to answer the phone with “for fuck sake, what now”
@hectorcorrea Harry’s Bishops Corner in West Hartford has my vote (there’s a second Harry’s right down the street, not as good). A lot of my friends enjoy Luna in WeHa as well!
@somcak I’ll have to try them! I like Pepe’s above Sally’s, Modern, and Bar for sure.
