It's time to face the fact that I don't know what I'm doing with my social media right now.

Too many platforms, not paying that much attention to any of them, and finding only sporadic ease in the spaces.

And I've been off regular microblogging for long enough that I don't really miss it anymore.

How many Maltesers in the afternoon is too many?

Asking for a friend.

About to mostly check out for the 5-day long weekend that universities have (there's just this one thing I have to do... 😬).

Thought I'd share this great post about "how to have a bad day", which I think everyone needs to read for that rainy / torrential day: https://laurences.substack.com/p/how-to-have-a-bad-day

How to Have a Bad Day

There’s an art to having a bad day, and I’ve been getting better at it. I used to be terrible at bad days — like many people, having a bad day for me was just bad. I’d rant, self medicate, threaten, berate, rage, refuse to accept my mood and eventually take refuge in impotent self pity. If I used caffeine to make myself feel better — which I frequently did — I succeeded only in pushing myself in ever diminishing circles around unproductive tracks that led to poor or no results. All this makes a bad day into what it it feels like most of the time, for most people — really awful.

@jod999 and I - wearing our @ResearchWhisperer hats - had the pleasure of interviewing Prolifiko founders Bec Evans and Chris Smith recently. We talked about 'How to feel good about your writing' and it was FUN AS. And, yes, that is a professional, evidence-based statement.

@thesiswhisperer @jasondowns Listening to your ep that includes the discussion about the valorisation of grittiness and not enough about 'quittiness' but I just had to point out that the wisdom of the ages for that was from Kenny Rogers:

"You've got to know when to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em"
