If you've seen my posts in the past weeks, you've seen me post about Chat Control 🗣️

In case you don't know what this is about, here's a short summary of the issue:

What is Chat Control? 🫢 👁️‍🗨️

"Chat Control" refers to a series
of legislative proposals in the European Union that would make it mandatory for all service providers (text messaging, email, social media, cloud storage, hosting services, etc.) to scan all digital communications and files (including end-to-end encrypted ones), in order to supposedly detect whatever the government deems "abusive material."

This would also affect people outside of Europe, in one way or another

🚨 This Friday, September 12th, EU countries will finalize their positions on the matter 🚨

Sadly, many countries currently support this proposition for unprecedented mass surveillance.

You can learn more about it, and what you can do to help, in this article 👇

@AlSweigart Neat. With this it should be easy to make a customised calculator.
@edsantos I have the impression that the consequences of trade deals are only known after the fact of the deal being made. I think more journalists should investigate those processes.
I am fascinated by the Jimmy/Saul character in "Better Call Saul". He's an colorful guy, a bit of a peacock. But which signals does he send with his colorful attire? He's authentic, rebellious, flexible, untrustworthy, entertaining, creative, etc.? I think his colorfulness contrast most with the profession he aspires to, and blends in when he's hustling on the street.
@Marlene It's like Kirkegaard's leap of faith

A Florida court detained a US Citizen of Latino ethnicity for being an "illegal immigrant." He showed the court proof of citizenship. The court agreed he's a Citizen—but held him in jail anyway. As a human rights lawyer, I criticized the ruling online as unjust.

For my online critique, a Florida Chief judge filed a formal bar complaint to try to strip me of my law license. I've had to spend nearly $10,000 in fees to fight back: https://www.qasimrashid.com/p/a-florida-chief-judge-sided-with

A Florida Judge Tried To Strip Me Of My Law License

Why I need your courage now more than ever to combat injustice in our legal systems and protect due process of law for All people in the United States

I think local #LLMs is the way forward for #AgenticAI. Chatbots and agents based on remote LLMs is a privacy nightmare. Also, an API can be subject to change at any time. Even with the model locked down, you have no control of what's going on between the model and the API endpoint.
@Alex0007 There's Claude Desktop.
@ariadne I reckon a substantial share of AI investments goes into settlements with copyright owners.
@bocytko Yes, I implemented time, calendar and timediff tools because the Claude (Sonnet 4) is so horrible at dealing with time and dates. If every MCP servers generally responded with a timestamp, I think it could help.
