@jsnell @9to5Mac This is particularly upsetting because they have a good model for this on iOS. For apps with full location access every (few months?) it pops up a dialog that says something like “hey…just a reminder that this app knows everywhere you go... just confirming you still want that”. That's way better than a blanket nag every week, and Apple invented it! I too prefer a “always allow" button but I’ll take a reminder every few months.
@daringfireball Maybe this makes more sense outside of our US culture lens. It is weird that we have speed limit signs (theoretically a law) that we have a whole culture of skirting and laws limiting enforcement. I weirdly appreciated in Europe that I got an automated ticket- my car traveled from point A to point B in less than the expected time- no argument, no pull over, no fuss, just here is your penalty for breaking the law, and I knew I deserved it.
@arkadiusz Beautiful shot! When you say “treated as ISO 200”- does that mean you shot it at 200 ISO and developed normally or did you pull it in development as well?
@stroughtonsmith @jsnell Maybe I’m spoiled by also having a Macbook, but I’m not all that excited about this. If Apple provided a virtualized MacOS, I feel like I'd have a separate app to do Mac things which would be great, but when I want to do iPad centric things (like say use Procreate or markup a document), I'm still stuck with the same frustration of getting files on and off the thing. I just desperately want to have files actually on my iPad that any app can access.
@sunoc Nice shot! The color balance looks great considering what looks like a fluorescent light in the background!
@tapasinthesun beautiful shot! I’m curious- why did you overexpose it? It looks like it came out perfectly exposed. Or did you do something in development to correct for that?
@gruber I don’t have a measurement but anecdotally my ultra has been running low on battery much faster… I feel like I used to be able to go two nights without a charge and now I’m down to every other night.
@BenRiceM that’s a cool idea. Yeah I have a huge library as well, and bit the bullet on fast, larger external storage a while back. My library was big even before iCloud Photos was really a thing (back in the Aperture days!), and I never imagined I could seriously consider it as the main home for my photos. But I’m glad there is a workflow that could work now!
@BenRiceM There is also an option in Photos to have your actual Photos library stored on an external drive so I can have the advantage of not actually filling up the Mac, but everything still gets synced to iCloud and you can back that up separately. But I guess if your primary Mac is a laptop that means you don’t have any access to your library when you are away from that external drive.
@siracusa Sigh… I have had a system with mixed brands and thought it sounded great. Now you are gonna make me listen for “timbre” and get all upset. (Not really). Just another voice saying once I ran my receiver’s calibration the mixed setup sounded fine to my ear.
