Not sure exactly how this process works, but I've moved to @tommcenroe should that be of any interest to anybody

Consider it a bit like moving house. At first, you bring all your old stuff across from the other place, and use that to cook with - to sleep and sit on. But soon you see that you need a different style - new drapes - a fresh start. The transition is a prelude to the next, better thing, not a tribute to the old. x
...so you see the problem? If you see the odd spot in a corner of a room where there's some condensation, it might be this, but there's not a lot of it and it's not likely harming you. Its more likely in that scenario that it's Aspergillus. If you see it spreading up wallpaper, occasionally with a bit of a wet look and that mold smell? That's Stachbotrys. And it can kill your child, your gran, or you.

Want to deal with it? Clean, use an anti-mold cleaning agent. Strip any infected wallpaper off. Paint with anti-mold paint. Sort ventilation out, and keep the site clean and dry thereafter. If that site is a problem and you have a landlord, push your landlord to solve it. When you clean, wear protective gear - mask, gloves, goggles.

Take this seriously. I think we've collectively forgotten this.

Seeing a lot of folk saying "You need to reblog more and favourite less than you did on Twitter". I don't get it, I always retweeted a lot and favourited little. Surely your 'favourite' things are more sparing than those you think others might find of passing interest?

Another quick Mastodon tip, to improve your experience (and mental health). You’ve seen the Content Warnings feature, but did you know you can apply them to OTHER people’s posts, automatically based on keywords? Preferences > Filters.

Great for stuff you still want to see in the timeline, but stay collapsed until you’re in the right mood or mindset to read it. I do this for stressful stuff like climate change, or… anything at all in UK politics. 😅

Alt text for images is something I got fastidious about after following @BlondeHistorian on the bird, and some tips I learned from my volunteering with MAB.

My rule is "include in the text whatever I want the reader to get from the inclusion of the image." Spoil punchlines: you're giving missing info!

My goal is "give AS MUCH CONTEXT AS POSSIBLE". Is the photo of a white man? That's worth pointing out! I'm white, so I often take that for granted, but it's absolutely not a given.
