Tech guy.
Probably political.
Always honest.

@janusrose ... which kinda means that working in the Far North is a bad idea?

I suppose what we could do instead is work longer hours in the summer to make up for lost hours in the winter....?

Some people think Mastodon is too weird to become popular:

I joined Twitter in 2008. We had to put a "d" in front of a tweet to convert it to a direct message and every other day you had some embarrassing private moments exposed because someone forgot about the “d”. Hashtags were just a community hack, introduced by Chris Messina to somehow tag content. Search? Hah, you wish! Tweets via SMS were supposed to be a thing. Oh, and the daily meet and greet with the failwhale. Totally not weird.

@feditips I made this initial mistake, and it's clear now that it's probably better to try to find servers with like-minded people instead. If nothing else, at least then your local feed will likely be more relevant!
Really sick of the #racists who insist on talking crap in the comments of every ad which dares to use black actors.
I know it’s pointless to argue, but I do, I think I just want to make the point that their poisonous garbage will be challenged and that racism is not cool in a decent society.

Normally #whf, came into the London #office as I'm going out to the #opera with my daughter this evening.

I'd forgotten how noisy the office can be. Just people talking, killing concentration.

@bartmeeus Thanks! Returning the follow :)

@jccpalmer All fair :)

Thing is that social conventions kinda change with the time and place. I'm guessing in your area the convention is that on halloween having decorations out and lights on means you are willing to welcome trick or treaters.

In my area the convention is a lit pumpkin is the sign. No pumpkin - no visitors.I think this has developed over the past 20 years, at a guess.

Flip side - sorry you had a load of unwanted door-knocking, it really must have sucked :(

#introduction I'm Just Some Guy. Work is based in #London, I live in Hampshire and WFH. I do cloudy stuff on #AWS having a long background in #Linux in academia.

I'm #leftleaning, believe very much that #society is important and that we need to give to it as well as take.

I like the #outdoors - the hills, the coasts, the walks. A great pleasure is that 10 mile walk, or #wildcamping by a Scottish beach. The flip side is going to the #opera...

@jccpalmer Is it good to assume that things should always remain as you recall from when you grew up?

As kids, we would knock on all doors, regardless of lights or decorations (people didn't really decorate in the 80s UK), but I'd be peeved if that were the practice now.
