Mostly planning my next trip to the snow. But when not doing that…

Nice weather outside, a good time to get some wax on the skis before the (finally) go into storage for the next 6 months

I visited the exhibition Time in the empty space on top of the Flinders St train station in #Melbourne this weekend.

Really cool work by street artist Rone, imagining a world from decades ago that has been abandoned and left to decay.

Glad to see this piece out today about the RBA's approach to climate (and our submission to the RBA review).

Important point that many miss on this: changing the RBA mandate isn't strictly necessary!
The RBA can do most of the important things on climate already. But it chooses not to because of uncertainty around boundaries (mandate change is *one way* to fix this)

RBA governor grilled over opposition to climate role - Green Central Banking

The governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia clashed with a lawmaker on Monday over a proposal for the bank to play a bigger part in addressing climate change.

I spotted two tawny frogmouth’s napping in this tree. Can you see them?

It was cool to see our data from the Oxford #COVID19 Government Response Tracker in the Guardian today on this article about continued lockdowns and protests in China.

In addition to the national China data here, we publish province-level Chinese policy data too.

You can tell it has been raining a lot on the east coast of Australia because Lake George is FULL of water

(This “lake” is a mostly flat plain that usually just has a small puddle on one side)

😬 this is not a great apology from RBA governor Philip Lowe. It is the equivalent of "I am sorry if you got offended by what I said"

A better apology would admit to getting it wrong. Even though it wasn't his fault (no one predicted Ukraine!) he was still wrong.

Reserve Bank governor apologises for interest rate comments

Lowe said the RBA had failed by not making clear that its commentary about steady interest rates was heavily conditional on the state of the economy.

let me just do my daily log-on to twitter to engage with any people reading my work....

a few times this week I have seen someone say something interesting, I've gone to interact with them... only to realise they are doing unmonitored cross-posting. The lights are on but nobody's home.
I don't need that in my life!

So I'm setting up a new filter to catch twitter cross posting with terms "RT", "t.co" and "@twitter.com". Any suggestions on for fine tuning?

I was quoted in ABC Fact Check yesterday saying it is "literally impossible" to substantiate Matthew Guy's claim about longest lockdowns.

...unless he has access to some mythical dataset that no one knows about

Matthew Guy says Melbourne was the world's most locked-down city. Is that correct?

The Victorian Opposition says Melbourne has "the dubious distinction" of being locked up longer than any other city during the pandemic, but such comparisons are far from straightforward.
