A little mushroom man that likes video games, programming and horror, ideally at the same time.
@BasicAppleGuy I have this wallpaper etched into my brain
@eli So I haven't done maths formally since school, so most of my maths these days comes from learning random bits that I need to make games - for example, I have some understanding of how vectors generally work, but only in the way that this affects whatever feature I am trying to develop. Same for trigonometry, etc. I guess I don't like the fact that even though it works, I am using concepts in my code without fully understanding them, and I would like to change that!
@Exilian @on_code Thanks both for the recommendations, these looks great!

Anyone got recommendations for maths textbooks I can work through that might help with game dev, but also as a good starting point for general pure maths self-study?

I want to develop a better intuition for how maths works, and I think I respond better to formal textbooks than lectures or YouTube tutorials.

@eviltrout Thank you so much for documenting your process, it's incredibly valuable. So many resources online about Godot are focused on getting prototypes up and running, and not actually making feature complete games, so having something like this out there is extremely helpful (particularly all the stuff about unit testing!). I'm an Unreal dev by day but I love working with Godot, it's such an impressive project
@thisisvini this is fantastic work, more tutorials should be like this
@ayoub I just set up a Navidrome server on my local network that streams music to my desktop and phone. Works amazingly well. I highly recommend everyone looks into self-hosting if they are even a little interested.
@jwz What's your preferred form for reading the news in digest? I currently have a curated RSS feed for tech news, used to use it for global news but things got a little overwhelming so for now its just tech
@alice @protonprivacy I've also concerned with the amount of "Upgrade to paid service" stuff splattered across their UI when you are a free user. If anyone here knows of a free, open source alternative (aside from self hosting) I would be happy to hear it
