Most folks don’t realize it, but BSD greatly contributed to modern computing. Linux, macOS, iOS, and gaming consoles or streaming service are the most successful examples that borrowed ideas and code from the BSD world directly or indirectly. Even at one point windows used networking stuff from BSD world. How often do you ssh into servers and network devices? That code comes from the BSD world too.

@nixCraft with enough redundancy most recent filesystems can be reliable; being an active user of OpenMediaVault, ZFS needs a plugin on most common systems (plugin that comes in the form of a kernel module and is sometimes maintained only for the latest version of OMV and kernel); also ZFS needs a little more RAM

@nixCraft A long time ago I read a lot of the papers that the creator of systemd had on his blog, to better understand what systemd is and how it can be used. I kind of like it, compared to old initd way of starting things. I am curious if we will see anything new in the near future about it.
