Psst

hey, hey you.

You're great and deserve to have a good night/day

A reminder I put up a page on self defense/martial arts information for everyone

https://bushi.neocities.org/dojo/dir.html

BTW I haven't documented this anywhere I don't think but a.weirder.earth is totally open source. I have a light fork of mastodon here, and welcome PRs if you have thoughts.

I deploy the 'deploy' branch, but PR into master if you have a contribution.

β€œI see broken software” is the new β€œI see dead people”

PSA:

If you migrate a Mastodon instance:

* Keep the secrets the same or people WILL NOT BE ABLE TO LOG IN WITH 2FA (I fucked this up)

* Remember to migrate the Redis database to keep your local timeline - see https://stackoverflow.com/a/22024286 for how

* Make sure your new instance has enough RAM or you'll have a bad time (I recommend at least 2GB and even that is pushing it)

don't like knowing what a movie or tv show will be about. #spoilers cause bar fights, bad for business. So use CW instead of dumping it out on the timeline.

Finally getting my legal name changed today!

I realize that newbies probably won't get that idea. But it would be great if we can start forming norms around the use of CW like that - Maybe sharing the notion in introductions and incorporating it in crashcourses when saying hello?

The gamedev in me is thinking that adopting/explaining this cultural norm might doublely serve as good opportunity to encourage newbies to play with the CW and visibility controls.

Mostly just floating the idea out there.

Okay, now that a few friends-of have been notified, please help boost so folks who weren't able to get on maly.io and other free speech Masto instances before they hit capacity know that the awesome https://freehold.earth is now open. :D
I'd like to run my own private/small Mastodon instance if I had the resources for it, but I'm not sure I do.
