I am a maker of things, sometimes its websites, sometimes its costumes, sometimes its installation artwork or 3D design, game design, decorations, craft. I just like making stuff

I am a fan of #dancing, #dragrace, cheesy #romantasy novels, #sci-fi and #fantasy, #art, #films, bright colours, #cats even though they are bastards, #craft, #glitter & all manner of shiny things.

People seem to have weird rules about who is allowed to follow them. Don't talk me if you're going to be a dick, I guess?

Signal is not a perfect product. There are many valid gripes to be had about Signal.

  • Signal is less fun than other apps.
  • Signal doesn't scratch the "data sovereignty" itch.
  • Signal's insistence on requiring phone numbers to enroll is simultaneously perfectly logical for its intended use case and also extremely inconvenient for many of its users. (Remember that usernames obviated the need to exchange phone numbers with your contacts.)
  • MobileCoin. Enough said.

But practically everything that tries to compete with Signal, or claims to be "more private" than Signal, has failed to meet the bar set by Signal's cryptographic security.

One main difference between pre- and post-menopausal brains is that after menopause, you have weaker reactions to negative stimuli. Things that might have strongly upset you before are less upsetting after menopause.

In other words, there's a biological basis to "not giving a shit" which lots of people report feeling after menopause!

Full time on site, no remote. The role is pretty much defined by being a physical set of hands on site, but the team is great and you will not get called outside of business hours.

So, confession time: I was recently helping a new client get set up on the Fediverse—guiding them through their first steps into our glorious decentralized galaxy. And seeing it all again through fresh eyes? Reader, it was brutal. So much of what should be table stakes for any social media UX in the year of our Lord 2025 still is missing or deeply broken still. I know progress has been made and a good fight, fought.
