🎉 Here’s a new thing — I made a typeface last year called Chonk! It’s a heavy display sans that likes to take up space.

I’ve had fun setting it really big for things like these pulpy sci-fi paperback titles, but it’s surprisingly flexible. As long as what you want to say is loud.

Currently a minimal character set, but I didn’t want it to just gather dust. If I add more glyphs, I’ll pass updates along for free.

A lot of stupid people with stupid opinions about SVB who have no idea what role they play in the modern tech landscape.

I’m guessing with napkin math but we are talking many tens of thousands of businesses mostly in the tech space bank with SVB. Their payrolls may be frozen. Your food might not get delivered. Your consumer product subscriptions may fail. It’s not some eat the rich shit.

Somewhere it is, sure, but the people impacted by this are first going to be payroll, not billionaires.

Sometimes the people who schedule mentor time with me ask these really profound questions I really have to share (anonymized) in case somebody else runs into the problem. Here is one such piece of advice that came up recently:

Much like trying to change somebody you are in a romantic relationship with who is being toxic and abusive, you will never be able to change a toxic or abusive work culture at your employer. Becoming a manager will not enable you to do it, unless you are the child of the CEO and inheriting the entire company. Being promoted will not change it. You working harder will not change it. A toxic culture is a toxic culture. Stop trying to be a hero. You need to leave if circumstances allow it - for your own career and health.

I’m actually having a better experience here than on Twitter because there’re real people, with lived experiences of being targets of the fragility that is whiteness, who are receiving and evaluating the reports that folx are making on me 🤣😂🤣
