Supercon 2025 Badge Gets Vintage Star Trek Makeover

There are still a few days before the doors open on this year’s Hackaday Supercon in Pasadena, but for the most dedicated attendees, the badge hacking has already begun…even if they don…

@shawnhymel @hackaday Fair, though if using the 12/16pin USB-C connectors the price difference isn't that much, just remember to not connect the two CC pins and use 2x 5.1k pull down resistors.
@shawnhymel @hackaday Why have you chosen to go with a Micro USB connector and not USB-C?
@terinjokes This is designed to be printed standing up with the expansion connector cut outs at the very top. This way it should be able to print without the need for support. I used 0.12 mm layer height.

@jay9 The design is now also available at Printables (https://www.printables.com/model/1387194-slim-case-for-why2025-event-badge) and on Gitlab (https://gitlab.com/flummer/why-2025-badge-hardware/-/tree/main/Case/slim pending merge to the official hardware repo).

The design has also been tweaked a little as a mistake had accidentally filled the top mounting holes half way up

@jay9 I haven't yet, but will try to get that sorted today.

I designed a slim case for the #why2025 badge, that prints in one piece, without support, using only 37g of filament.

This mostly sits on the back of the carrier board, allowing add-ons to sit snugly up against the main PCB.

The small sides help keep the faceplate in place.

@aleksorsist Are the case paired with a specific set of earbuds, or can two sets be charged one set at a time to always have a pair that is fully charged?
