Software developer, bicycle enthusiast, collector of old computers. Beer drinker (and sometimes brewer), coffee drinker (and sometimes roaster). Living on the Front Range of Colorado, USA. I like to think that I represent the best that Generation X has to offer...that is to say; I can be very sarcastic.

Well, *I* thought it was funny...
This card cage (and the cards that are sitting in it) comes from an IMS Industries Series 8000 S-100-based computer from the early 1980s. When I was a kid, my dad had one of these computers at the radio station he owned. After hours, he would go up to the station to work fix things (he was also the engineer) and I would tag along. He would log me into the computer and I would sit there and write a variety of little BASIC computer programs, usually involving themes of D&D or Star Trek. That was before we had a home computer and was the first software I'd ever written.
I didn't really set out to have a telephone collection, but every time I walk into the thrift store and see a Western Electric that I don't have, I can't help but drop $5 and pick it up. So far that's happened three times. The only one of the 'big' models I'm missing at this point is a Trimline. #vintage #telephones #westernElectric

It's coming together nicely! In fact, it looks so good that I feel like Ricky from 'Silver Spoons' every time I walk into the basement. lol! #pacman #arcade

Paku paku teberu, I believe it is? This is my 1979 Namco-Midway #arcade cabinet. It started out as a #galaxian cab and has an amusement license from Glendale, AZ on it. The original graphics and all of the internals were removed long before I got it. After a bit of paint and body work, last night I reskinned it in the #pacman livery. One day I might get the time, money, and motivation to do a full restore, but for now, it'll live as a pac-man themed multi-cade for all of the great vertical games from the late 70s and early 80s. #retroarcade #retrogaming

I can assure you, I have not been waiting for a 10 MB hard disk, and I *definitely* have not been waiting to shell out $3398 for one.
Post Taekwondo workout cool down: a Scottish ale from a local brewery and a little bit of music while I work on some software.
I have to do a little bit of work on the BBS, so I needed some era-appropriate music as a soundtrack. Of Rush's output in the 1980s, this is probably my *second* favorite album of theirs.
Like...maybe if you want to try to trick people into thinking a message is from Apple, at least be consistent with the fonts, and for fucks sake, delete that fucking red font, which strikes me as the least Apple-looking font this side of Comic Sans.
It's "Steve Jorbs," my mid-2005 14-inch iBook G4, running on battery for the first time since...well, since I acquired it, anyway, which has been a while. Seen here with period appropriate wallpaper. Just imagine the reaction you would have received in 2005, walking into the local The Starbucks for an orange mocha frappucinno, pulling this bad boy out so you could listen to 'Demon Days' and get a little bit of work done on the new social media network you're building to replace MySpace. You'd be the envy. THE ENVY. #Apple #iBook #G4 #Bears #Beets #BattlestarGalactica
