Software developer, bicycle enthusiast, collector of old computers. Beer drinker (and sometimes brewer), coffee drinker (and sometimes roaster). Living on the Front Range of Colorado, USA. I like to think that I represent the best that Generation X has to offer...that is to say; I can be very sarcastic.

I know I haven't posted in forever, I just thought I'd pop in here and officially endorse Kamala Harris. The other guy just....seems like a fucking idiot.
One time I told Drew Carey that he was great in 'The Drew Carey Show' ...then I said, "...well, I've never actually seen it, but I've heard good things." That was at the House of Blues in New Orleans. I may have had a rum & coke...or five. #DrewCarey, if you're out there, I'm sure it was a wonderful show!

#TrumpVAnderson

So, do i have this straight? The #SupremeCourt doesn't dispute that trump is an antidemocratic insurrectionist, but they dispute the exact mechanism to disqualify him from the presidency, in the interests of democracy.

Well, *I* thought it was funny...
My daughter is using 750GB of cloud storage. She figured out that she could duck around screen time restrictions by saving TikTok videos to the photos app. Honestly, I'm not sure whether I should feel mad or proud. :/
I hate video meetings. How come on #StarTrek they never talk over each other when they're using the big screen?

Romulan: "Drop your Shiel..."
Picard: "This is Jean Lu..."
Romulan: "ds and prepare to be..."
Picard: "c Picard of the... I'm sorry, you go ahead first."
Romulan: "You go."
Picard: "This is Jean..."
Romulan: "Prepare to..."
Picard: "Luc... God dammit!"
Romulan: "boarded..." >sigh<

Them: "Okay, so this ticket for creating a PUT endpoint involves a cascade delete on the original record and then re-creating the record and its children with any changes that were submitted."

Me: "WTF? No! First, IF we wanted to do that, which we DO NOT, why wouldn't we just call DELETE and then POST?! Second, in your scenario, if we want to change the value of one column in a record that has 20 associated records, you'll delete 21 records and create 21 new records when we could just...oh, I don't know, UPDATE 1 RECORD?"

THIS ISN'T ROCKET SCIENCE! THIS IS ONLY *BARELY* COMPUTER SCIENCE.
Ah, yes! It's #PresidentsDay, my favorite out of all of the Hallmark holidays! Don't forget to get a card for either Lincoln or Washington, whichever of the two is your favorite. (But you must pick ONE.) Mine is, of course, Washington, because he saved children (but not the British children).

This card cage (and the cards that are sitting in it) comes from an IMS Industries Series 8000 S-100-based computer from the early 1980s. When I was a kid, my dad had one of these computers at the radio station he owned. After hours, he would go up to the station to work fix things (he was also the engineer) and I would tag along. He would log me into the computer and I would sit there and write a variety of little BASIC computer programs, usually involving themes of D&D or Star Trek. That was before we had a home computer and was the first software I'd ever written.
#AI peaked with ELIZA and it's been downhill since then. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ELIZA
