The agency I used to work had a few medical clients. One of our task was to make fake quora profiles and write up fake answers to promote these clients.

For example, somebody asked "What's the best cardiologist in [area name]?"

And we made a fake story like "My grandpa needed to get checked with a cardiologist and we visited (clients name) and they were great"

How is Google going to check the originality of these answers?

I thought about it because Google is showing a lot of UGC sites.

Hey #design and #ux folks 👋 I’m currently searching for things you can’t unsee in Google products: alignment issues, layout problems, visual polish... I wanna see it. 🧑‍🔧

Or if nothing comes to mind, a re-toot for visibility is appreciated 🙏

Arriving at #brightonseo with a suspended Twitter account

Google shared how they handle multilingual searches and I'm still not amused.

"[...] Google Search considers all these settings and other factors to automatically determine what languages would be most helpful to show results in."

Well, the combination of languages between my devices and browsers is English and Czech. Whenever I make a search in Czech in the UK, 80% of the results are in Polish, 10% in Slovak, and the remaining 10% in Czech.

Not great. 🤷‍♂️😂

Little thread on blackhat link building:

Back in 2020 I wrote about the potential of automated 'link building' from domains by using content/links in PDFs, finding and uploading them to sites that allow their upload folders to be indexed. I got distracted by peoples' bank statements though: https://i83.uk/how-i-accidentally-found-bank-statements-when-link-building/

3 years later, I see this technique being used by BHs now: https://www.google.com/search?q=%22cashapp+cash%22&oq=%22cashapp+cash%22&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIHCAEQABiABDIHCAIQABiABDIHCAMQABiABDIHCAQQABiABDIHCAUQABiABDIHCAYQABiABDIHCAcQABiABDIHCAgQABiABDIJCAkQABgKGIAE0gEINTcwN2owajeoAgCwAgA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

How I accidentally found people's bank statements online while trying to build links

While on a foolish errand to do some 'experimental' link building, I found a credit company exposing peoples' payslips, bank statements and more online. They didn't seem to care much.

One of the main differences between Meta and Twitter(X) is that Meta actually have a support team that review suspensions.

Hi Internet! I'm Drew and THIS IS MY FACE.

If this GIF has ever brought you joy in the past, I humbly ask you to consider making a donation to the National MS Society. It would mean a lot to me and to those I know affected by the disease!

Google Bug Bounty: A bug that gives "Unrestricted file system or database access" e.g. Unsandboxed XXE, SQL injection that permits takeover of Google account pays a maximum of $13,337

That seems like a low payout for such magnitude?
