@ainmosni are you putting OneDrive, Dropbox and Google Drive in the "not my own infra" category? What about GitHub?
@bespacific maybe the collapse of that platform will accelerate the adoption of better platforms...
@StacieBee in case some random stranger's word might make a difference: that means you're coping in your own way. Keep on coping. You'll find your way.

The thing about any tool is just that, it's a tool. There's no magic involved. It's only as good or as useless as your willingness to learn it and use it and make the most of it. The tool is not going to do anything *for* you.

All that being said, I'm enjoying using Obsidian, I'm going back to it consistently (even beyond the shiny new toy period)  and it's helping me keep my poop in a group. So I'll keep recommending it.

Hope this helps

Yes, closed source is concerning. Yes the fact that it's made by the dynalist.io folks is a mixed blessing.

(which *may* be indicative of commercialization in the future)

But it works well for me and has a very rich ecosystem of plugins and a remarkably helpful community, so I'm hopeful.

finding that #pkm and #tft (learned that one today! Tools For Thought) tool usage is becoming much like religion: the practitioners of a particular tool think there's is the only one that will work.

I am honestly that way about Obsidian.

@UrHairItsOnFire glad it's not covid! Sorry you're dealing with this. Best of luck experimenting.
