ok my dudes it's 2026 and i'm calling it.

a supergroup led by @pojntfx and @jorge ends up steering the #cloudnative crowd back to the fun of desktop software development.

a small army of distributed systems nerds will make #localfirst on the desktop happen, since every large backend system is always just a big poorly-specified database anyway. puregotk reduces cycle time without forcing people into a dynamic language like javascript or python.

backend devs make buttons. it feels like 1997. boot cut jeans are back in fashion. your apps talk to each other. migration is painless. self-hosting is easy but optional. software is fast and good.

google and facebook go bankrupt. wars end. the people rejoice. peace spreads across the land. a gentle rain falls.

🇬🇧 The UK has used its Investigatory Powers to force Apple to hand over encrypted data, threatening the privacy and security of users all over the world.

The UK Government has decided to pull the trigger on one of its most potentially damaging surveillance powers - its ability to force companies to remove security and privacy protections for their users worldwide. 😬

U.K. orders Apple to let it spy on users’ encrypted accounts

Secret order requires blanket access to protected cloud backups around the world, which if implemented would undermine Apple’s privacy pledge to its users.

I’m currently doing this challenge called January. Where you just try to make it through every day of January.

I have started learning ruby. I have also started a dev.to blog to help summarize what I am learning/and cement concepts by reiterating them.

First post tldr: ruby expressions are like dnd actions trust me bro.

@openvibe has enabled threads support so here is a little test post to both my threads and mastodon accounts.
Welcome to the wonderful world of #Linux !

I had a little bit of downtime to work on my dot-files. Here is some of my progress. Still have some rough edges I want to work on

- Waybar: I want to clean the widgets that are showing. add a media player control?

- Clean and finish nvim config

- get obs to work

- swap out wlogout for rofi powermenu

- fix sleep and suspend. I am looking at you Nvidia 😪

- clean up config files and upload to a repo give credit where code was borrowed from and what is original

Saturdays are for tinkering. I been eyeing both eww and ags and have been wanting to try my hand at building some widgets. I have heard ags is easier than eww. And since I know some JavaScript, I gave it a shot. Yeah I think I’m going to stick to waybar for now until I have cleaned up all the other small to dos in my config files. Once I have things clean and tidy. Then I might experiment with ags. I just kept running into bugs I couldn’t figure out. #linux #hyprland #ags
Over the last week I have begun my decent into Nvim, Finally. While I am working on solidifying my dev skills. I feel like it is only suiting if I am using a tiling window manager that I also use a tui editor.

I posted my KDE rice a while ago. I have been eying Hyprland for a while now. It is still a work in progress but over the last couple of months, I have preferred Hyprland over Gnome or KDE. It's so snappy! Here is a peek at my Hyprland setup. ( Mainly just my Pacman-inspired waybar icons. )
