Ugh!! Temperatures in the upper teens this morning at the farm. Do I really have to go in to work this early?? 😫 Can we have a 3 hour delay pretty please? 🥶
Just a bit too cold for this agave 🥶 Hoping it will bounce back #cactus #plants

Heartbroken about last night's hate-fueled murder of 5 people and 18 others injured at a #LGBTQIA club in Colorado Springs and sick of people using their religious views as a cover for hate. If you disagree with something, fine, but please realize that the LGBTQIA community is just trying to go about their lives like everyone else. They're not asking for special treatment, they're not trying to "re-program" your straight kids. The paranoia is unfounded. Try getting to know someone who is LGBTQIA instead of judging and making assumptions. Most importantly, just don't hate anyone, for any reason. It's destructive to others and poisons your own soul.

I can't help but notice many toots from helpful newbies encouraging you to support the Mastodon Patreon.

It's fine to do that but understand it goes to just two big instances and the official Mastodon dev team.

It does NOT trickle down to YOUR instance. If you want to support your server, donate to it directly. Nearly all the costs of the explosive growth of the past few weeks is borne by local instances.

Mastodon is decentralized. There is no Mastodon Inc. This is not Twitter.

With more gardeners moving over to this site, I thought I'd recommend some #gardening resources I've found helpful over the years.

Curious to know if anyone has a mental list of #plants they would rather pass on. I have a hot take 🔥

I don't like crape myrtles. Mostly from a maintenance standpoint. They require SOOOOOO much pruning and shaping and staking to get them into that three-stem vase shape you see when you buy one at a nursery. The amount of suckers they produce that need to be removed 😮‍💨 It takes me about a full week (or two) to prune all of our crape myrtles at the nursery production farm. And then just to see people commit crape murder later on 😭

Also not a fan of winter jasmine (Jasminum nudiflorum) which I basically call Forsythia Junior, which like Forsythia just looks like an animal had its tail stuck in an electrical socket when not in bloom. 😵‍💫

My mom’s Thanksgiving #cactus blooming. #plants
Ok #gardening Mastodon, when do I dig up my canna lily and elephant ears and store them for the winter? Foliage just turned brown with a recent frost. #plants #gardeningquestion
