It's been a little while since I posted a game dev update. Here are clips of my combat screen. First is from July, which is very rudamentary. And then from September, which includes a few animations for enemies attacking and getting hit, and notifications of what attacks are being used!

(September background is ripped from a Dragon Quest game, not final art)

Upgrading my home office audio today! Previously had a Blue Snowball. If I have time I'll test it out on stream this afternoon/evening while doing some game dev coding.
Me, to my cat who's really going at the litter box walls to "cover" his business:
Orange chess pie with cranberry gelee. The latter part of it (using fresh cranberries) is too much work and should be replaced with bottled juice but I think it all turned out beautifully and can't wait to dive into it tomorrow.
Happy Halloween everybody!

A little combo of everything in this one, trying to figure out what 16:9 feels like, how I might emphasize front vs. backup characters, active character, etc.

Top leaves room for turn order. Hard to say if I want that in the game. Lots of room for enemies and status messages. Who knows what the action menus will look like.

Fumbled in Aesprite enough that I can say I know how to move/resize things around and do a tiny bit of drawing.

(not my original sprites, obv.)
