@leobm @401matthall @randahl Does that negate the donation?
@leobm @401matthall @randahl What do you mean? US pays foreign tariffs. (Example of a non-sequitur.) Also, US sent 75 billion USD to Ukraine for the war against Russia.
@randahl @401matthall "Always" and "never" are dangerous words. They are the fastest way to destroy credibility, invite rebuttal, and hand ammunition to critics.

WEEKEND SPECIAL REPORT

Democrats told troops: “You can refuse illegal orders.”

Trump responded: “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH.”

Is it protected speech — or mutiny instigator?

@401matthall @randahl Slights disguised, though recognized. The Ukraine/Russia issue is bigger than one country stepping in when the fight gets tough. The U.S. has given aid, and that aid has been used to prolong a conflict that is not yielding to the desires of the West. This is the way of wars. Escalation increases loss. Seeking for resolution hopefully decreases loss. As with all conflicts that end "well," compromise is a must.
@401matthall @randahl Over the past 20 years, ~2.3 Trillion USD in aid disbursed in realized funds to many countries in several categories, including Humanitarian Aid, Economic Development, Security and Military, Health and Education, Governance and Democracy, and Multilateral Administration. The supposition in your comment is not grounded in reality.
@Brian @randahl Non-partisan thought: The question becomes, "Is the U.S. prepared to go to all out war with Russia and its allies?" Another may be, "Is Ukraine competent in its role in the war, and at what point does a super power stop negotiating the larger world stage possible outcomes and let Ukraine fall to Russia?" These are not simple paths with simple outcomes. The complexities and gravity of outcomes are more real, present, and potentially fatal than a vocal majority tend to acknowledge.
@randahl The post is factually sound (matches the FT/AFP leak, verified by 10+ outlets), but "capitulation" is interpretive – Zelenskyy called it "absurd" but open to "dignified" terms (TIME, November 21). The plan, drafted by Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff with Rubio/Kushner input, resembles Putin's demands (no NATO, territory ceded), but includes U.S. guarantees (aid if Russia reinvades). Negotiations ongoing; Ukraine rejects cessions but seeks talks (Zelenskyy, November 21).
