POTS diagnosis confirmed today. It’s a relief. Of course I then got to deal with OMG condescension from the specialist. But we have the beginning of a treatment plan. Hoping for improvement in quality of life.
No one tells you how hard the tilt table test will be on your freaking knees.
Todays the day… tilt table test. Had to track down dry ice for the blood samples. Dry ice is weird. Hate that it feels like so much is riding on this test. Chronic illness patients now the weirdness of wishing for an abnormal test result. Sigh. #dysautnomia #spoonieLife #lookingForAnswers
I would never say that nerve conduction testing is the worst thing I’ve ever experienced. It’s not even close. But my dominant arm is definitely out of commission for anything nor an absolute requirement the rest of the day. OUCH. #dysautnomia #spoonieLife #thisSucks #dontWanna
4 YEAR OLD: I can't sleep, Daddy. I'm afraid of Frankenstein.
ME: Don't you mean Frankenstein's monster?
4 YEAR OLD: I do not. Personally, I find unethical and irresponsible scientific practice far more terrifying than any monster and so should you.
Crafting friends know… TFW you play bobbin chicken and CRUSH IT.
For anyone about to undergo POTS testing, especially if you’ve batched a bunch of tests in one day… be sure to take any rescue meds or comfort items you need and anything you need to mitigate sensory overload. Testing the autonomic nervous system requires messing with senses and it’s not pleasant. My stress test just triggered a migraine (yes I have my meds). It’s necessary to test, but be prepared. #POTSdiagnosis #dysautonomia #spoonielife
What I’ve learned today… autonomic nervous system testing is a sensory nightmare. But it’s all for a good cause. #dysautonomia #spoonielife
Started my POTS battery of tests today. This doc is THOROUGH. If we don’t know what’s going on by the time we get through these 20-ish tests, I don’t know if we’ll ever know. Nice to be believed. #dysautonomia #spoonielife
Could a racing heart trigger anxiety, rather than the other way around?

Mice with an accelerated heartbeat were more anxious in a stressful environment, a new study shows.
