That was an interesting article. I haven't been reading the local-ish news, but maybe I'll make more of an effort.

Deer over-population is a problem, and something needs to be done about it. There's a lack of natural predators, and I don't think that anyone wants coyotes, bears, or other large predators in the parks. (Currently, we are the large predators in the parks.)

Hunting is abhorrent to many, and I'm pretty sympathetic to that point of view.

But unfortunately, it's time to take practical, concrete action.

This archery hunting season is a short-term solution. Hopefully, it's the beginning of a longer-term solution to deer overpopulation. The fertility program mentioned should be pursued by the city. The communities should be taking responsibility by not feeding the deer.
