Oof. I just got an email from Apple saying my Castro subscription is increasing from £7.99 to £24.99 per year.

Without such a dramatic increase, I probably wouldn't have given it a second thought, but I wonder whether the price is justified for my fairly basic needs. I've been subscribed for so long, i don't even know what's included without Castro Plus.

@rmondello I mostly like using Passkeys, but I've encountered an issue several times where something fails and I'm shown the dialog in the attached screenshot. Clicking the cancel button does nothing and I have to force quit STP. Is this a known issue? (I can submit something via Feedback Assistant, but that always feels futile). Thanks
Perhaps the merging of Apple Accounts not rolling out to the UK (yet?) was a blessing after all.

A great Nintendo Direct.

I'll almost certainly be buying:

- Mario & Luigi: Brothership
- The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
- Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

And a few I'll be considering depending on my backlog and other releases:

- Fantasian
- MIO: Memories in Orbit
- Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake

I've spent at least three hours dealing with #Apple due to #iCloud erroneously reporting its storage to be full.

Support says the issue is due to my occasional use of a VPN, which seems bizarre. They can temporarily fix the issue by using a tool to recompute the storage. I wish they'd just upgrade me to the 200GB plan rather than whatever it is they look into each time I call.

I'm loath to pay since it's their bug and the bug may well fill up my storage even on a bigger plan.

Frustrating.

I managed to read a little more than last year, but enjoyed what I read less than usual. My favourite reads were The Dispossessed, The Other Wind, and Roadside Picnic.

Setting a number of books to read each year has caused me to avoid longer reads, so I'll track page count this year. I hope to read The Dark Tower series, Anathem, some classic sci-fi, and The Shepherd's Crown, which I've been putting off since Terry Pratchett's death 😢 I'll slip in some lighter reads as necessary.

Lost a fence, a greenhouse, and a rather nice bird feeder so far. There’re several trees down nearby, but the neighbouring 40m beech trees are holding firm, thankfully.

Living on top of a hill saves the house from flooding, but wind gets funnelled up the valley and causes chaos. I wish I had one of those fancy home weather stations to see just how much the funnelling worsens the wind.

It's not everything I'd been hoping for (≥12GB base RAM and USB-C peripherals), but the M3 iMac is going to be a huge upgrade to my dad's 2010(!) 21.5″ iMac.

Geekbench scores going from 400/800 to ~2800/11000 and finally moving to an SSD!

I hope it'll also last for at least 10 years.

(I still feel a little guilty for suggesting he avoid a first gen product and wait for the M2 iMac that never materialised.)

The latest season of #Futurama has been (barely) *fine* so far, but this week's episode was really bad. Except for the rubber ducks jingle, which I imagine is now permanently stuck in my head

🎵“Rubber ducks, rubber ducks
so perfect play for bath time.
Never put live ducks in your child's tub.
‘Cos live ducks, live ducks
will peck your child's eyes out.
So always choose rubber ducks
when you are choosing ducks”🎵
