It appears the @emfSpiders have crawled up my post after last #emfcamp and thrown it back into the verse a bit - nice to see folks ramping back up for #emfcamp2026 which I will of course be at, looking forward to seeing all your lovely faces.

Have put in for a DJ set but no installation this time, I’m alternating that every other as it was absolutely brilliant fun but I entirely missed the rest of the festival shenanigans. And I do love me some shenanigans. By which I mostly mean dancing to terrible 90’s tunes at the Scottish Consulate 😆

I still exist, but all of my extra curricular nerd fun times are on hold until I finish this sodding PhD.

However a couple of weeks ago my wonderful Mother procured me another car boot sale bargain so the Retro Reliquary now has a Betamax player (as folks were asking if I had one at EMF2024) so I’m trying to pick up some cheap media for testing and demo purposes.

This is the first item in the collection and it looks proper bad good.

I fucken’ *swear* my workshop VHS player is a troll. Every single time it has behaved for a while and I screw the case back on, it stops tracking properly. Every. Single. Time. Then I spend like over an hour fighting with it instead of doing whatever it was I wanted to do (I just wanted to watch Dreamcatcher while tidying a bit). It literally played Dog Soldiers just fine yesterday. Dick.

Next step: start repair one of the others I have kicking about and see if that scares it into behaving.

At attempt to review and digitise #emfcamp footage has resulted in all spoons being lost, because I am still not back to the point of knowing where the fsck the needed av cables are in the workshop. Aside from that they are not in the av cables box. Past me is a dick for not properly sorting things during tear down.

Time to go watch something stupid and try again tomorrow.
