@daringfireball it’s interesting to think Apple never publicly uses the word AI (or Artificial Intelligence) on their website or in videos. They have the wisdom to embrace the term ‘Machine Learning’ but just never AI.

@chrisvasselli it’s wrong and unfair to say their “only role is a payment processor”. They host App Store pages, they host app download and update. They do fraud prevention, they do the work to support any payment methods. They review apps and hold apps — for good or for bad — to a certain standard.

My quarrel with Apple is the lack of service I receive as a developer in exchange for the 15% fees. I get the point you’re making but calling them just “a payment processor” dilutes the idea

@gruber if you keep dismissing autocorrection and keep using the same spelling of the word, iOS learns. It know my app and even correctly auto-capitalize its name as I type

@kcase in the linked article you sent:

> “Collect” refers to transmitting data off the device in a way that allows you and/or your third-party partners to access it for a period longer than what is necessary to service the transmitted request in real time.

Again, not speaking for the case or OpenAI policy in particular

@kcase not speaking about this app I particular, but policy states that if data is collected and immediately discarded, it doesn’t count as ‘data collection’

I’ll probably be able to find the link once I’m on my Mac later

ArqBackup has been silently not working for two months… And when I try to uninstall it just wouldn’t let me :/

If only @parrots made an app for planning and tracking a backcountry hike. It’d be an app that I would love using, not one I begrudgingly open
