i boosted a post earlier about normalizing putting your pronouns in bio or email signature. what it didn't say was that cis people who feel safe to, should be the ones spearheading this.

i have found in meetings, etc, that too often the trans person in the room gets asked for their pronouns and nobody else does. nobody else offers theirs. it ends up singling trans people out in spaces and puts them on the spot.

i hear cis men talk about how they don't need to put pronouns because they are "normal" – you are not the default. specify if you can and feel safe to do so.

also you don't know if someone is cis just by looking at them. this still has to be an opt-in scenario to avoid outing people who aren't ready

Potential candidates for the next local elections, start getting your act together, now.

Don'ts:

- Only having a Facebook page is not a campaign.

- Promising things beyond the purview of the position. I know the limits of the position.

- Having a college degree is awesome. That alone is not enough.

- Resist stereotypes. People who know me expect me to burst into flames if I set foot on a church's property. "You look like a nice, Christian woman" gets you nowhere with me.
