Friendly reminder. I know people like to put emojis of stuff they like or are interested in their display name, but when you’ve got more than 2 or 3 of them, it makes reading your posts with a screen reader really tedious because the screen reader also reads out the coded descriptions of all those emojis. It makes it take a while for your screen name to be read out even before getting to the text of your post. It makes reading your threads unendurable, no matter how important the content is.
@mhoye To that point, the aviation industry uses the "we don't care about assigning blame, we just want to know how to prevent this next time" model of investigations and it's a load-bearing pillar of aviation safety
@mhoye 100%. I think you nailed the nuance between blame and accountability. The key is setting up the environment for individuals to take ownership of the accountability, not others pointing fingers. Boils down to psychological safety IMO…the point of a retro.

Sending "please come back and use my app" notifications, to people who do not have an actual human reason to do that, will cause a brief uptick in your metrics while people respond to that notification by opening the app, realizing they didn't have a reason to do that and there's nothing in it for them, and then either going back to ignoring it, maybe disabling notifications or uninstalling.

Doing this gains you nothing. No sustained growth, no user trust, nothing. You get a blip in a line.

This app is on my phone exclusively so that I receive a notification when the washing is done. 811 MB.

@overcastfm I recently switched back to Overcast from Castamatic. I like Castamatic’s podcasting 2.0 functionality, but the playback and UI in Overcast is just so smooth, whereas Castamatic’s playback is terribly choppy (at least on my phone).
I was curious if Overcast supports, or plans to support, any podcasting 2.0 functionality. Streaming Sats, enriched metadata, etc.. I’m also curious if Overcast will ever be extended to search the Podcast Index. Thank you for a superior iOS podcasting app!

@marcoarment listener of ATP here. I appreciate the deep dives you and your crew take into the Apple Platform. I especially appreciate your scathing reviews of Siri, which is absolutely the dumbest assistant ever.

I’ve been considering a switch to Linux for Desktop and Android for mobile. Your podcast helps me understand some of the increasingly noticeable pain points over the last few years. Some things straight up just don’t work. Sad that it’s become so prevalent. Keep up the great podcast!

Not a bad interpretation, actually —
