@ploum It's the first time that I read about the reason of having developed gnome-shell and its different desktop UI paradigm. The Linux community doesn't talk a lot about it!

@ildar Even if it's possible to write third-party/external plugins for gedit, it has never been a great experience for the developers of such plugins, and for users to install them.
The focus is more on the core of gedit and the default plugins that go with it.
So yeah, life goes on, I understand your point of view.
I hope gedit will still be a successful product for years to come. gedit is here for the long run.

@rnb Il y a en effet un peu de turbulence pour le projet gedit en ce moment. Les plugins "officiels" ne seront plus en Python, mais il est possible que le support Python soit restauré pour les plugins tierces.
