Back in Dubai as a new resident, it was great to find other expats to talk to not just about information security but about general UAE related things - Aussie restaurant at the Palm, or general traffic.
I really appreciate keeping up to speed with people's thoughts on topics - from the current highlight topic (AI), to the general themes around governance, risk management and team management, holistic views on geopolitics / techno-diplomacy, and quantum computing.
I moved to Dubai about eight months ago and I love the city. Went to an event with other women in information security in Dubai.

I go to non-infosec events, partially to increase my network and talk to other specialties and interests. But also, to have fun.
I'm a fan of Qatar Airways and their economy, business and first class products. I consistently receive top notch customer and loyalty recognition with them. But, they took it to a new level (or reality) at the Qatar Web Summit immersive VR booth in Doha.
When you think "immersive VR" it sounds kitsch. But it works wonders when it's on show at a large tech conference, filled with business travellers that very likely flew there. All likely being beguiled by competing airlines!
So, when you combine both employee championing the brand, and the technology innovations at a tech conference, you're like a Queen Bee in a hive.
Think about it. One of the first things I asked a Qatar Airways cabin crew that were there is that I wish Lufthansa had this when they announced Allegra.
The experience included other senses:
🌸 Smell - of the dessert, amenity kit by Diptyque Paris
☀️ Touch - the cool of the overhead fan, warmth of the sundrenched window
They had real cabin attendants all ready to chat - I talked about how burgundy was my fav color to one, and Jovan did an amazing championing the experience!

Truly these types of events inspire me so much and reminds me of why I work in tech, keeping people and data safe with #cybersecurity #informationsecurity initiatives to have these types of cool experiences.
Back in Dubai after attending a wedding of in Mumbai.
I was a guest of the groom. I hired him initially as a working student in infosec in Berlin, then 5 years later went to his wedding and experienced amazing hospitality. (btw, he is looking for work now, in Berlin or remote, in GRC stuff)
One of the highlights was going around ruins of these forts, citadels etc left by the Portugese.
I'm currently in the AI Global Show in Dubai and so far it has been a great learning experience both for the region and for the technical details.
Very interesting POV especially in the context from being in Europe with the talk by with Dr. Abrar Abdulnabi (Head of AI) of Saal.ai.
And a pretty interesting panel "Your New Chief AI Officer"
Will share some more thoughts later
