This is one of my most #FirstWorldProblems complaint in a while, but it’s infuriating.
The company issued computer I have to use is running windows 11. “Hide cursor while typing” doesn’t work in any capacity. It’s been broken since Win 11 was released.
There are third party utilities you can install to address this.
I’ve got admin permissions to create or destroy any of the thousands of servers in my purview, but I don’t have permissions to install a third party utility to allow me to just hide the damned cursor when I’m typing - and Corporate IT won’t approve it for me.
My job is almost entirely writing IaC/CaC in VS Code at this point. The “Hide cursor while typing” feature that Microsoft wrote for its operating system doesn’t work in the tool most people use to do development within their operating system.

Wrapping things up for the day in the office when I overheard one of the junior engineers say:
“So… who was Snoop Dogg? Like why is he famous or whatever?”
sigh
New, at KrebsOnSecurity.com: Marko Elez, a 25-year-old employee at Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has been granted access to sensitive databases at the U.S. Social Security Administration, the Treasury and Justice departments, and the Department of Homeland Security. So it should fill all Americans with a deep sense of confidence to learn that Mr. Elez over the weekend inadvertently published a private key that allowed anyone to interact directly with more than four dozen large language models (LLMs) developed by Musk's artificial intelligence company xAI.

Addendum.
Did you guys know that you can just go to Home Depot or Lowe’s and… buy a flame thrower?
Ostensibly “for killing weeds”.
But… flamethrower.
So anyway. My day was stressful as fuck.
But.
I saw an honest to goodness double rainbow on my commute to the office this morning. That didn’t suck.
Jesus Christ my heart. I don’t say this lightly but a shining beacon of Mac centric design is in gravest danger.
Long before I was a creative professional I looked up to them.

They are growing very fast so if I can knock down these barriers it will be a good place for me in the long run - but god damn why did you even hire me if you aren’t going to let me do what you said you wanted during the interviews?
I actually want to do the work they need done (and they NEED it) but if I can’t have even the most basic tools or access I won’t be sticking around very long.
I’m not interested in staying anywhere knowing I’m being set up to fail. 😡
