I knew I shouldn't break the only rule I had ever been given and yet, I turned the knob anyway. The door swung open and revealed a library full of books bound in strange materials and bearing stranger names. I gasped in horror as an eye popped open in front of me. More of its kind came to me and stared. I hurried from the room and they didn't follow. I can still feel their stare on me, even now. Surely, my invasion of that room will be known.

I awoke to a sound. It permeated everything, it felt like it came from everywhere. I could barely tolerate it. I longed for it to end but knew in my heart it would not. As I gazed out into the empty world I knew it never would. After all, what could prove more deafening than silence?
