of broken towers
bright phosphorous flowers
from a child's bedroom
illuminating
beyond a filament of doubt
the shadows
in each cold invading heart

above the empty strand
where "new" land
crashes into ruddy sea
a battered promenade is found

but only rust and blood
is bound to be there, with laughing
gulls and sideways crabs
picking over thin remains

behind vast concrete dunes
small ghosts wisp out
from flattened dust-filled cellars
crying soft for vanished parents

and careful cold revenge
