“New: Dem Healey wants bigger tax breaks than Republican Baker did a year ago. New guv would rebate $600 per dependent and give breaks to low and middle class - but also give business and the rich what they want in lower capital gains taxes and huge reform to estate tax. #MApoli”

@jbouie This isn't an article, but I read The Year of Magical Thinking for the first time and was utterly blown away. There are so many parts of that book that if I think about it too much I will start to cry.
Also really the Lakers season in a nutshell here: Lebron putting on a clinic, and it doesn't matter because the Lakers defense allowing OKC to shoot like 70% from deep.
It really is unbelievable that Lebron is still this good at 38. He's outmuscling dudes in their 20s!
Very big implications to finding (2 studies, in London & Paris) that woman cyclists get killed more than men because they wait for signal to start across intersection.
This is surely true for pedestrians too, since geometry is the same.
Implies that using marked crosswalk & obeying signal is often more dangerous than violating law. 1/2

Is cycling safe? In many cases, the answer is no.

This #ChineseSpyBalloon news cycle has gotta be the stupidest news cycle of at least the last six months.
About halfway through The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion and it's as good as everyone made it out to be. Yeesh.
Just used "Zaslaving" in a sentence to refer to a streaming service removing library titles just to save a pittance. It's a verb now.
Republicans set to oust Rep. Omar from Foreign Affairs panel

Newly empowered House Republicans are preparing to oust Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Somali-born Muslim lawmaker, from the House Foreign Affairs Committee over her past comments critical of Israel — and as payback after Democrats booted far-right GOP lawmakers from committees for their incendiary, violent remarks.

I'm in the middle of writing the first draft of my next column and let me say that I would not be able to do this job without archive.org. It is just an amazing repository of resources for any kind of research. Really incredible and deserves your support.
