Having a blast on an e-bike; you should too. 🚴🏻‍♂️
@helge I don’t understand why allowing one browser engine is presumed less secure than allowing 3 or 4. All engines have had severe security issues.
@helge I guess you go with the human review to see what trust points you give to opus 4.6 although that could be a forged commit text. Also accepting that you got an open source contribute back has to occur sometime. Having just used Claude to help me find a bug caused by an idempotent write with side-effects, it is hard to ask for test cases with the PR in this case.
@dimsumthinking no, i have at least met you. When I read your wish list of reminder features, it really looks like how I ask Claude Code to conjour an app. But if it is the dream of an app that you prefer the quest of, then in that sense, i have mistaken your need.
@mattiem great article Matt. I too feel compelled to write about these times. I chose to do a full App rewrite due to 10 years of tech debt and did all the new structural work by “Hand” as code completion came into XCode. Then Cursor made the coding go faster. 1 year later all the hard features that I left till the end are totally written with Claude Code. It has been a more fun ride than the Internet-Web browser-Google search years. I think all these blog items will fill a gap.
@dimsumthinking you realize this blog article is like a prompt for AI coding. You don’t have to write the App, you can just wish it for yourself. Also easier if you are the only user; bespoke Apps.
@simon I should have known. I sit corrected, awesome mugs.
@kyle I do understand. Underemployed since dot com crash but health care is at least not a worry in Canada. My son, who works at Anthropic, thinks he has 2 years before the models are better than he is. Retiring is not actually a thing; not worrying about needing more money is. Then you just do what you want and the list of side projects keeps growing.
@simon wow, that is way better than any Pelican you have received.
@kyle @steipete @xjki @mergesort @dimillian @krzyzanowskim I am the happy retired continuous learner now. I still code because modern IDEs are way more fun than debugging machine code when I was a junior. I am inspired by all the recent posts/blog articles that reveal the LLM impact from many stages of people’s careers. This is more exciting than the web explosion, with different scary bits. I need to restart blogging to document this interesting time.
