Gang I've been kicking into the Mastodon Patreon for nearly 6 years, so I get it, but don't dismiss Bluesky out of hand. Just dismiss Threads out of hand.

@helvetica In my feed a lot of people feel more accepted and unjudged there than they've felt on the internet in many years, thanks in large part to the invite tree. Wasn't an experience offered elsewhere in practice. So there's defensiveness.

Mastodon feels Gen X, Bluesky feels Millennial, and it follows that there is an opening for another option. But they'll coexist and maybe even interoperate and I suppose that's the dream!

“We lost control of the business model...in journalism.” Jon Kelly (Puck) But...a lot of the business models that Kelly mentions (favorably) like Uber, Spotify, etc. have yet to find a path to profitability (and have destroyed critical infrastructure in the process). So I’m not buying this.
