I'm switching from Evernote to Joplin. I've been a paid customer of Evernote's for a long time, but Joplin has finally caught up and now has the killer feature which I've wanted in Evernote for the longest time : Vim keyboard mode !

I'm happy for Hugh Howey that his Silo series is now on TV.
It has to be one of the worst screen adaptations I have seen though.

Take my opinion with a pinch of salt... I also happen to think that Lord of the Rings movies were a vast improvement over the books; and I am the only person I know with this latter viewpoint.

Well the fediverse never was free, and still is not. We all pay for internet access, and someone pays for the labour and infra of hosting the nodes.

The question is how and if this scales economically.

This prediction had better not come true; because the USD would effectively be in a hyperinflationary downward spiral, and the global economy would go to crap; in which case your magic internet money won't save you. Let's call this prediction what it is: A grift.

On the protocol level we should expect an embrace-and-extend tactic from one or more big players. This has been in IBM and Microsoft playbooks for decades. Remember how Internet Exploder nearly ruined the web by adding IE-specific behaviour to HTML ?

Someone at SMRT definitely knows about accessibility guidelines for fonts. Let's hope they sort out the white-on-yellow signage on the Downtown Line.
