Let’s set sail and discover music around the world. On this cruise, pop music charts in different countries are our regular ports of call.

Rather than going through the chart toppers countdown style, we’ll move sideways instead: one song per country at a time, performed by homegrown artists.

To celebrate their 45th anniversary, Dominican family singing group Los Hermanos Rosario revived many of their classics over the years in their new album “Infinito Positivo” (Positive infinity). They invited Puerto Rican salsa legend Tito Nieves, to give “Rompecintura” (Waist-breaker) a salsa spin.

Tamil-Australian playback singer Dhee provided the vocals for “Muththa Mazhai” (Pouring rain), a song from the soundtrack of the Tamil film “Thug Life”. Outside of her work as a playback singer in Tamil, she has also released two English language singles in the past year: “Can’t you stay a little longer” or “I wear my roots like a medal”.

Lithuania-born Macedonian singer-songwriter Дина Јашари (Dina Jashari) first came into the spotlight with YouTube covers in 2011 before releasing her own songs. Despite a 14-year career and winning the 2022 Milan Mladenović Award, she has just released her debut album “Растенија без корен” (Plants without roots) this year, including “Дожд” (Rain).

In 2022, talk show host Peter Marcin invited folk band Smola a Hrušky to his talk show “Neskoro večer”, and improvise a song with the word “Krovinorez” (Weedwacker) based on audience suggestion. Fast forward to 2025, the band invited Marcin to collab on the lead single of their latest album “Spojenia”. The song? “Krovinorez”!

After winning “Norges neste countrystjerne” (Norway’s next country star) last year, Tobias Sten has been busy preparing the release of his eponymous debut album, which includes “Fy faen du e deili” (Damn you are fine).
