Rather than going through the chart toppers countdown style, we’ll move sideways instead: one song per country at a time, performed by homegrown artists.

Selfoss-based pop band Stuðlabandið were chosen to perform the theme song for this year’s Þjóðhátíð, Iceland’s National Festival. It is a four-day event on the island of Vestmannaeyjar, with concerts, bonfires, and fireworks, that takes place on the weekend before the first Monday of August each year.

After winning the online rap battle series BeefBaff, Moroccan rapper Shinigami (real name Mohammed Moutani) made it to the Season 2 finale of televised rap competition JamShow. The 22-year-old partnered with fellow rapper Furelise for “أفشتني” (She surprised me).

Egypt has become quite a destination for rising artists to go shoot music videos! Because that’s where Hungarian rapper Kövesi Kevin and his friend Vini went to film the video for “Plekni”.

With “Ojalá” (I hope), Colombian urban artist Ryan Castro set the tone for his second album “Sendé”, which was recorded in Curaçao, by fusing his reggaeton style with Caribbean sounds. He will be returning to the island in August to perform at the Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival.

@soniccruise ha, they've used the theme from this old classic, which was the intro music for a finnish cooking show in the 1970s and 80s so it's something that everybody in the older generations knows.
Brazilian sertanejo powerhouse Zé Neto e Cristiano are celebrating 10 years together with their “Magia das Estrelas” (Magic of the stars) project, which features “Escondendo o Ouro” (Hiding the gold), a song about how the lover that was meant to be has been hidden all along until now.
