Solarpunk wannabe inspired by Murray Bookchin and the Rojavan revolution. Anarch-ish, cuz I definitely have demsoc sympathies.
Weed is better than alcohol.
Hopefully this is a "safe" thing to ask: is there something like the Socialist Rifle Association in Canada? I feel like people here have a quite different attitude toward guns that is, usually, healthier. But the world is changing. Fascism is rising. We're going to need to know how to defend our communities.
Liberalism is bad. Sadly, my own friends make me realize this regularly.
Capitalism should have crashed and failed in 2008. Socialism for the capitalists bailed out the bourgeoisie.
I guess this is an example of socialism being bad... but also capitalism being bad...
I've been playing around with different #Brutaldon themes this afternoon and now I want to re-theme my blog to have a more brutalist design...maybe even quit WordPress in favour of static pages...but maybe that's going too far.
cold: reducing your personal energy use and upcycling your trash because it'll save the planet
bold: reducing your personal energy use and upcycling your trash to reduce your dependence on capitalism
gold: working together with your community to build sustainable alternative infrastructure to reduce your dependence on capitalism AND save the planet

"Google wants to kill the URL"

No

"People have a really hard time understanding URLs" is not a good enough reason to get rid of URLs

To this day, I refuse to use an AMP specific webpage as it breaks the open web. When I'm presented with an AMP link, I edit the URL to remove that component so I get the full page. "Safe" URLs will similarly cater to Google interests and I will not be using it

If other vendors go along with this, I'll write my own browser if I have to

Google Wants to Kill the URL

"Whatever we propose is going to be controversial. But it’s important we do something, because everyone is unsatisfied by URLs. They kind of suck."

Sometimes, all the infighting on the left makes me feel like democratic centralism is actually a good thing. Fight behind closed doors, but then present a united front publicly. At least we look like we have our shit together that way.
How to organize a reading group (that will hopefully evolve into something more, perhaps even a proper affinity group)? I think, for me, a good starting point would be my church (I'm Unitarian Universalist), since most people there are left leaning and many are probably socialists (at least one is a full blown anarchist communist). That might even be a big enough group. But how does one safely advertise this type of thing to strangers? I don't really have many comrades nor a good way to connect.
