There's this old Finnish measurement of distance, peninkulma. It's about 10 kilometres, and is said to come from the old form of the word dog peni, and kuuluma, the distance you can hear a sound at... So it can be said that it's about a cool 10 kilometres that you could hear the bark of a Finnish Spitz, and this feels very accurate based on every one of them I've met 😅

TIL. In April 1974, in the middle of the night, a small group of conspirators secretly installed a large tensegrity icosahedron made from discarded telephone poles on the campus of Twente University in the Netherlands.

It’s still there. People call it Het Ding (“the thing”).

OK, Fedi, help me out. Back in the early 1980s there was a band from Houston that played Club Foot in Austin. I know I also saw them in Houston, probably at Joe Star's Omni. They had a black guitar player that sang lead vocal on a song called "Are You Talking To Me". They also had a big boned blond woman that dressed like a Valkyrie and sang lead on a song with the hook, "Now my mind's in the gutter and I need the trashman." Does anyone else remember this band?
