@[email protected] I agree with that (easier to apprehend) but my feeling is that in the long run you lose variety and richness in what you can do. For example, the number of skills in 3.5 all serve certain purposes and to me it's a way to see what your character is good at, and adapt your behavior as the character AND the player to be more convincing...
However I have not tried dnd5 in a long time and lately I've played a lot of mostly-narrative RPGs do maybe I should try it again!
