If you’re afraid that books might change someone’s thinking, you’re not afraid of books, you’re afraid of thinking.

This explains basically everything about Elon Musk's actions. Some of his companies work in spite of him. Twitter just has no immune system against his thing.

oops all spiders

I was an intern at SpaceX years ago, back it when it was a much smaller company — after Elon got hair plugs, but before his cult of personality was in full swing. I have some insight to offer here.…

Okay, so, my last post has gained a lot of traction, and I want to qualify something: I am not an expert on violent extremism. I just sometimes write a good toot. Please follow trans activists and experts on extremism. Some names off the top of my head that I know are on Mastodon:

@dynamicsymmetry
@[email protected]
@esqueer
@UnicornRiot

Anyone who has any other suggestions for folks to follow, please boost this and leave their handles in the replies. Let's find and follow the experts.

Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock Holiday Special Trailer: Get Into the Spirit — Collider

Apple TV+ has released the trailer for their Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock holiday special, Night of the Lights.

Disturbed by reports of Black Mastodon users—Black women in particular—having negative experiences on this app, including being randomly banned for discussions of racism. Some of these users will not come back. All will share their experiences. The answer is not to condescendingly lecture them on “how the fediverse works,” as if their experiences are inevitable, nor to swear to do better next time. (There may not be one.) It’s to do better now lest the reputation of this app be cemented.
I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it a thousand times: Encouraging kids to be who they are is suicide prevention.
Over on Twitter transphobic bigots are openly calling for genocide while the website’s owner cheers with glee.
Apple must pull Twitter from their App store. They must not and cannot endorse this hatred and terrorism.

Trans rights are human rights.

Black lives matter.

No human is illegal.

Love is love.

Their body, their choice.

Science is real.

Kindness is everything.

Make sure general nerdiness, tabletop roleplay, and other related pursuits are the kind of content you want to see in your timeline.

Our values obviously align, but our interests/hobbies might not. No hard feelings if you unfollow. 😉

I hear new people noting how chill, tolerant, and pleasant Mastodon is.

Mastodon isn’t chill or tolerant or pleasant. It’s a tool… a foundation on which to create and maintain a culture.

It’s those who’ve been on Mastodon, run servers, and served as admins who did the hard work and created the culture you now enjoy.

Now, it’s your turn. The only way it stays tolerant and chill is by us doing the work to keep it that way.

A good example of, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

I cannot stress strongly enough that genocides do not start with death camps. That’s where they end.

No, they start with dangerous rhetoric that whips up violence against marginalized groups.

People like Walsh, Pool, Shapiro, Carlson, Raichik, etc. absolutely know this. They are fomenting a genocide against trans and queer folks, and it is working.
