Our Doofus (our resident red-tailed hawk family) is back, with a new generation! (Technically they never left, as they nest in our big oak tree, but this is the time of year we get to see the juveniles derping around practicing flight.)

We had to remind the dogs to be chill with them yesterday, but this morning, Doofus older and Doofus younger were sharing a kill on the back deck and the dogs (and kids) all watched silently with no reminders. This is from like 10 feet away or less.

Speaking of @bigzaphod -- you might not know this about him, but he's a great table-top campaign idea generator. Basically our system is: he gives me an idea seed (possibly partially fleshed out, partially not) and I turn it into a campaign and DM for the kids.
Yesterday the boys groaned with laughter when they realized the quest was a scavenger hunt. They had a blast finding and collecting "treasures" (trash) for the tiny (HUGE), cute (MAGNIFICENT) dragon Jeff who really just wanted friends. 😂

@dmoonfire I was my judge's first read--and first cut. The competition can definitely be emotionally difficult, but it's even more difficult I think when it's a DNF. It's hard to remember that these are opinions and not everyone will view your book the same way! Hopefully you find more readers who love your book anyway.
