I am very sad to announce that my colleague Kenan Ince @kenansense has passed away suddenly and unexpectedly.
This is, necessarily, a deeply inadequate thread, but:
Many of you know Kenan bc they were dedicated to doing cool social justice math stuff, working with QSIDE, etc.
Kenan developed our course titled "Math for Social Justice." This is the free and open-source workbook they created. It has lots of useful material both for students and for teachers interested in offering such a course. https://qr-for-social-justice.github.io/workbook/colophon-1.html
All of Kenan's students loved them, and the feeling was mutual.
By mathematical training, Kenan was a topologist and knot theorist. (We had worked it out so that they were going to teach topology as our rotating upper-division elective in the spring, for the first time in like five years.)
This is their arxiv page: https://arxiv.org/a/ince_k_1.html
Kenan was also a poet. Here's one of my favorite poems of theirs. They were set to co-teach a "Gender 101" course in the fall and they were going to kick ass.

Please keep Kenan's family, friends, and beloved students in your thoughts.
(I am probably not going to look at this thread much for a while.)
