@Brendanjones This has always bothered me, in particular Microsoft's occupation of public space. In all my public jobs, all computers use Microsoft and nobody questions it. Now public institutions also have PR people to manage their social media presence as well. Why wouldn't they just save the money and use Linux, Libreoffice etc.?
@JeffC1956 @breadandcircuses Definitively agree on TVP being very blue sky and naive, but I think that's why I like it so much. It's more of an Asimov-like sci-fi scenario and I think one of its strengths is that it doesn't really meddle with contemporary politics, meaning that it could still be realized even thousands of years from now.

@Privacymatters it's very rare for me to use Google:)

/e/OS, DuckDuckGo, Ecosia etc go a long way!

@tanketom ah, tough!

@CStamp I agree, but I think the scholars conserned with echo chambers are worried about people like you shutting out the bad people, thus gradually making them badder and more extreme as part of a feedback loop that ends with violence if left unchecked. Of course, the problem is that the digital architecture of social media makes this a problem in the first place, so ideally you were never supposed to face the issue.
