@nielsmede My experience over many years in the chemical analysis of foods is that measurement uncertainty can be explained to non-technical audiences in a straightforward manner that does not require the audience to have a detailed background in statistics.
My opinion is that by including a robust estimate of measurement uncertainty, along with an explanation of the uncertainty that is appropriate to the target audience, confidence in any decision associated with the science is enhanced.
