some days i’m like “i’m a person who can function in regular society” but then a leaf blower starts going

here's an animation emulating what it's like to see motion on high-framerate monitors!

the video is 60 fps, but I've used temporal supersampling to add the frames you would see, if your monitor was of a higher framerate

it's not 100% accurate of course, it looks more like motion blur here than it would on an actual high-framerate display, but hopefully it gives you an idea of the smoothness of higher refresh rates

Could someone point me to a good, *simple* way of detecting whether someone is (or is not) using an ad blocker?

I want to surface a small, unobtrusive box in a corner of my website encouraging visitors without an ad blocker to install uBlockOrigin.

Release The last bit of C has fallen · ImageOptim/gifski

gif.ski was originally meant to be just the highest-quality GIF maker, but over time I also made it generate smaller files. Now it's probably the most technically advanced GIF compressor, if I say ...

We are joined by Marcin Kulik @sickill – the creator and maintainer of asciinema. We talk about the project itself, developing on Linux, IDEs, targetting a technical audience, the advantages of writing for a command line interface, why -R is always wrong for the recursive flag, and more.

That gsettings tweak is likely something I did on Arch and forgot about it.
