All this rain is raising the mushrooms everywhere! See the haul my two hands could carry below.

Aside from the blewit-est blewit that ever blewit-ed there on the right, and what might have been my first ever giant horse mushroom on the left, all the others were what I thought were candy caps. Buuuut... no. Fooled by a lookalike once I got them home and studied them! *shakes fist*

The blewit got sliced and cooked with sweet apple chicken sausage and onion soon afterwards.

Lunch yesterday: roasted potatoes Parmesan with green beans, tempe, and sliced onion. The latter was cooked in soy sauce, chiefly. The addition of some pepper sauce during cooking helped marry it to the potatoes.

My partner found this buttermilk sorghum\masa quick bread a good accompaniment to the bowls of chili we had.

The texture was surprisingly light considering the use of masa.

As mentioned -- whole wheat crust, smoked trout, diced yellow bell pepper, mushrooms, a few kalamata olives, Turkish oregano, a little spaghetti sauce, and cheese. If I'd had any in the house, I would have used Monterey Jack, but I only had Parmesan and sharp cheddar.
